- Yes, I have talked with Tord a few days ago, I was going to report what
- we can use, and what we can't of his routines.
-
- First of all, Tord himself is very interested in the project, being that
- huge Atari-fan he always has been. BUT, right now, neither he, or anyone
- else at Unique has a single minute to spare for "outside" work. So, we
- will have to include the soundsystem ourselves.
-
- Of course the SubStation soundsystem was not freely available (don't ask
- me about price, as I have no idea..) but the UMP modules used from the
- octalyser package is, and we have Tord persmission to use them.
- The problem we encounter is that there only exist SNG players for thoose
- sounddrivers, so we will have to make our own interface to them.
-
- So, what drivers can we choose from? Well, there's quite a few;
-
- Tammany - 8ch/25khz. 4-32khz/with volume variation on each channel.
- This driver uses around 30-40% time on a stock Falcon.
- Major overkill if you ask me.
-
- Cathryn - 8ch/25khz. 4-32khz/with volume variation on each channel.
- This driver is faster than the above (25-35%), but has a little
- lower quality. Still major overkill IMO.
-
- Rachel - 4ch/12khz. 4-32khz/without volume.
- This driver is very (very!) fast. Should use sligtly less
- than 5% of the CPU usage. Unfortenly, it has no volume
- variation that would be nice.
-
- Hmm.. there's a version of rachel WITH volume as well, just that I
- don't have it available here right now, and can't remeber "her" name.
- It is however slower (7-8%).
-
-
- Note: NONE of the above players use the DSP.
