  7. Yes, I have talked with Tord a few days ago, I was going to report what 
  8. we can use, and what we can't of his routines.

  10. First of all, Tord himself is very interested in the project, being that 
  11. huge Atari-fan he always has been. BUT, right now, neither he, or anyone 
  12. else at Unique has a single minute to spare for "outside" work. So, we 
  13. will have to include the soundsystem ourselves.

  15. Of course the SubStation soundsystem was not freely available (don't ask 
  16. me about price, as I have no idea..) but the UMP modules used from the 
  17. octalyser package is, and we have Tord persmission to use them.
  18. The problem we encounter is that there only exist SNG players for thoose
  19. sounddrivers, so we will have to make our own interface to them.

  21. So, what drivers can we choose from? Well, there's quite a few;
  22.  
  23. Tammany   - 8ch/25khz. 4-32khz/with volume variation on each channel.
  24.             This driver uses around 30-40% time on a stock Falcon.
  25.             Major overkill if you ask me.

  27. Cathryn   - 8ch/25khz. 4-32khz/with volume variation on each channel.
  28.             This driver is faster than the above (25-35%), but has a little
  29.             lower quality. Still major overkill IMO.

  31. Rachel    - 4ch/12khz. 4-32khz/without volume.
  32.             This driver is very (very!) fast. Should use sligtly less
  33.             than 5% of the CPU usage. Unfortenly, it has no volume
  34.             variation that would be nice.

  36. Hmm.. there's a version of rachel WITH volume as well, just that I
  37. don't have it available here right now, and can't remeber "her" name.
  38. It is however slower (7-8%).

  41. Note: NONE of the above players use the DSP.
